With the ACCIONA Carbon app you can calculate your carbon footprint by answering questions about your behaviours. Once your environmental impact has been calculated, you will be able to offset your carbon footprint through environmentally sustainable projects through renewable energies.

◉ How is your CO2 carbon footprint calculated?

We use standard emission factors and your location-specific data to calculate the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted as a result of those behaviours which have a direct impact on climate change.

We then add up all the calculated emissions to provide you with an estimate of your total carbon footprint.

Activities measured when calculating your carbon footprint:

1. Transportation by different means including airplane, motorbike or public transport
2. Type of diet, diets which include consuming fish and/or meat emit the most CO2 into the atmosphere
3. The type of heating you use at home
4. If your home electricity supply utilizes renewable energy
5. Kilometers travelled annually by car
6. Frequency of purchases

◉ How is the CO2 carbon footprint offset carried out?

1. Select the percentage of your footprint you want to offset
2. Select the payment method
3. Sustainable project allocation: Your offsets will automatically be assigned to one of the sustainable projects available
4. Get a certificate reflecting your support for the environment

◉ Sustainable projects to reduce the carbon footprint and environmental impact of climate change:

There are currently two project categories that you can take part in to offset your CO2 carbon footprint on the world.

◉ Reforestation Projects:

Reforestation is the process of planting trees in areas where forests have been depleted or destroyed. It aims to restore ecosystems, combat climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide and improve biodiversity.

◉ Wind and renewable energy projects:

These projects are based on the generation of clean energy through wind farms, contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by replacing conventional energy sources with sustainable alternatives.

Some of these initiatives include improvements in educational infrastructure, community education campaigns and protecting and restoring natural attractions.
